ACCIONGAY is a non-governmental organization created in July 1987 and named Corporación Chilena de Prevención del Sida –Chilean Aids Prevention Council. It is the first civil community organization established in Chile and its main goal is to reduce the HIV/AIDS transmission and the epidemic’s impact among homosexual individuals from a transformative perspective focused on the Human Rights. Thus, ACCIONGAY works on the promotion of the civil rights of sexual diversity individuals.
For twenty five years in Chile, ACCIONAY has been a citizen activism benchmark that generates public opinion and produces knowledge, submitting proposals and making interventions within Chilean society for individuals as well as groups of sexual diversity and their full development as persons.
ACCIONGAY is an organization that promotes the community mobilization for the integral development and social participation of individuals as well as groups within the sexual diversity with the aim of reaching their full inclusion in Chilean society.
To contribute to the full development of people within sexual diversity and to benefit as well as to legitimize their feelings, tastes and preferences.
To make interventions of public advocacy in order to build supports and generate changes permitting the provision of equal rights within Chilean society.
To assure ACCIONGAY public and political positioning in order to become an opinion and proposal benchmark within the area of sexual diversity rights in Chile.
To strengthen ACCIONGAY social management to reinforce the organizational and financial development.
Our work is based on the community mobilization, which means that most of the programs and services supplied by us are possible with the assistance and commitment of the activists –volunteers- in Santiago, Valparaiso and El Maule, those who are trained as a specialized team in their respective work areas.
